Summer Fashion Trends

Hello, lovely people,

Finally, summer is here and its time for me to share my favourite trends of the season. I don't want to repeat any trends so I suggest you look at my previous spring, winter and autumn trend posts for ideas as to what is still trendy. Note: I've previously mentioned stripes, floral, yellow, corset belts, tulle and ruffles which are all still prominent in stores and worn today.

Gingham

The perfect summer print is making an entrance amoung brands like House of Holland, Pringle of Scotland and fashion influencers alike. This summer, you will find this adorable retro print on sundresses, trousers and crop tops alike. Recreate this look: ASOS dress, H&M dress and ASOS shirt.

60' Sunglasses

Finally, the sixties are back! I have been waiting and hoping for this decade to reappear and slowly and surely it is. This particular trend is one that has been common the last few seasons with oversized and/or resin sunnies- usually focused on the typical oversized square Chloe-esk 70's frames. This summer's trendiest pair are more focused on the sixties mod style that is either round or slightly oval and often white. Recreate this look: Pull & Bear sunglasses, Magno sunglasses and ASOS sunglasses

Flash dance Shoulder

No, not the off the shoulder/bardot trend but an earlier version. So channel your inner eighties/2013 style by letting your jumper hang loose while exposing a little clavicle. There are many different ways to interpret this trend, some of which you can see above. Not only is this trend cosy and relaxed but also comfortable! Recreate this look: Boohoo oversized t-shirt, Missguided jumper dress and H&M shirt

The Straw Bag

This is a trend that (if you've been reading my blog) you will know that I've been in love with and inspired by for quite some time. Not only that but this bag also happens to be the bag of the season thanks to Fanny Ekstrand who started Chene Bags. This trend comes in three different forms: the net bag, the straw bag and the straw basket a la Jane Birkin. Recreate this look: Granit net bag, Chene straw bag and Little Doe basket

Flat Mules

This is a trend that I've been keeping my eyes on for the past two to three months: flat mules/slip ons/espadrilles/loafers with no back but still like loafers loafers. Not only are they trendy, comfortable and stylish but they are also perfect for the hot summer weather. I'd love to wear them with a pair of loose fitted trousers, a white tee and oversized denim jacket. Recreate this look: ASOS flat mules, Topshop flat mules and Vagabond flat mules

Bright Colours

More retro vibes (mainly 60's-80's) with this trend seen at fashion week. I love this colour block look, in fact; before I was aware of it as a trend, I styled two looks (here and here) around this colour scheme so I am very happy to see it becoming popular. Recreate this look: ASOS orange denim jacket, ZARA yellow dress and Pull & Bear red tote

90's Swimwear

Last year was the year of the 90's (and still a little 70's) but now, we're seeing a little of it trickle back just in time for summer. Styles that characterise the typical nineties suit include a high cut leg, often a low cut back and (in this recent adaptation of the trend) a focus on block colours; mainly primary. Recreate this look: ZARA yellow high leg bathing suit, ASOS high leg swimsuit and Missguided high leg bikini

Espadrille Wedges

A trend that is back from its most recent stunt in the late 2000's/early 2010's. The most summery and comfortable version of high heels on offer that will (especially with a straw bag) create a lovely look channelling the seventies. Recreate this look: Asos white wedges, Pull & Bear jute wedges and Castaner navy espadrille wedges

Raw Hem Denim Skirt

We've seen the denim skirt before but often with a button up front. Now, the skirt is back in its traditional blue form with a twist consisting of a raw hem. There are so many ways to style this piece, maybe a bright sweater or an oversized shirt, a pair of espadrille wedges and your favourite net bag. Recreate this look: River Island raw denim skirt, BDG denim skirt and Urban Renewal blue denim skirt

Spring Beauty Trends 2017

Eye-Catching Red Lip

For the first time in many a Spring season, the red lip is here for the warmer weather. Not only is it red, classic and gorgeous but it comes with a twist: a no makeup contrast. By that, I mean leaving the brows, and skin natural while keeping the eyes entirely bare except for the occasional sweep of pale eyeshadow. Recreate this look: Tom Ford Lipstick, Nyx liquid lipstick and NARS lip pencil.

Draping

As much as I try to deny it, the eighties are back (*shudder*) and I can't avoid including one of these trends anymore since there are so many of them (*sob*). Draping is the eighties version of 2016's dramatic contouring and is done by bringing your pink blush up the cheekbone, temple then across your lid and brow bone. Recreate this look: Becca cheek and lip tint, Urban Decay blush and Bite Beauty multistick.

The Smokey Eye

The Smokey Eye is a makeup trend that has become a classic since the nineties and this SS17 its back again. You would've seen it at fashion week in an incredibly simple manner: soft, minimalistic yet messy. To achieve this look, grab a grey eyeliner and start my lining your eyes then bringing it higher up your lid. To achieve the relaxed look, use your finger to blend the liner out. Recreate this look: Urban Decay eye pencil, MILK eye pigment and NARS eyeshadow.

Coloured Crease

I noticed this trend gracing the catwalk last season and now, the look is back and trendier than ever. Grab a pigmented shadow and drag it across your lid with your finger. This is a look that you probably won't see on people you pass on the street (like many fashion week trends) but it can be modified for everyday. To modify it, choose the colour of your choice, whether that be black, red, yellow, brown... and draw a line in your crease for subtilty. Recreate this look: Sephora eyeliner, Make Up For Ever eyeshadow and Clinique lid pop.

Glitter Lips

Thanks to the makeup legend Pat McGrath's work in FW16, glitter lips are immensely popular this season. This is eye-catching, glamorous and doesn't have to be uncomfortable. Recreate this look: Pat McGrath lip glitter kit, MAC glitter pigment and NYX lipstick.

Natural & Clean

Last but not least, we have the bare faced trend. This "no makeup" look is one that is nothing new for fashion week. However, when I say bare faced, I mean bare faced. Several fashion houses are choosing to keep their models natural by leaving the skin untouched then focusing on strobing and a light blush. Recreate this look: BECCA highlighter, Sephora luminizing drops and NARS bronzer.

Spring Fashion Trends 2017

Stripes

This is a two-part trend: stripes and reinventing the oversized man's shirt. This season, the classic stripe comes in all shapes, colours, sizes and forms from modern pop art to vintage seventies to classic preppy. The oversized shirt can be seen worn off the shoulders, unevenly, back to front or very oversized. Recreate this trend: ZARA, Monki and Pull & Bear.

The Corset Belt

The corset/lace up belt is a trend born off the runway with bloggers and fashion influencers driving the trend. The belt is often worn to create a silhouette: on top of a coat, a dress or graphic tee for some extra layering and details. Recreate the look: ZARA and Gina Tricot.

Floral

Florals for Spring, I know, groundbreaking. Although expected, floral is a pattern that really revives your look after the dull winter months. Recreate this look: H&M, ASOS and Mango.

Large sleeves

Wide flared sleeves are a trend that I think I first wrote about in autumn but they keep reoccurring at shows and ss17 street style. This is a trend that can also come in combination with stripes and recreation of the striped shirt. However, these bell sleeves are often seen on sweaters, blouses and dresses commercially. Recreate this trend: Pull & Bear, ASOS and Mango.

Yellow

Spring is here and so are bright colours (of course), this season you will see a lot of hot pink and a lot of bright yellow, often worn in the form of a sundress, skirt, purse or tee, four things that really emulate and encourage warmer weather. Recreate this look: ZARA, ASOS and ZARA.

Statement earrings

A style that I've been wearing quite a lot recently: large gold earrings. They are a classic piece that catches the eye but can still be reworn due to their simplicity. Love, love love! Recreate the trend: Mango, ASOS and H&M

Trench coat

The classic trench is back for the spring season after several seasons in the shadows while faux fur and the puffer had their moment. Now, the trench coat is gracing the catwalk and street style shots. Recreate this look: Weekday, & Other Stories and ASOS.

Kitten Heels

Last but not least, we have the kitten heel. For a long time, it's been considered an unattractive trend (much like turtlenecks and Birkenstocks) but now, they are back and better than ever. You'll often see kitten heels with jeans, flowy trousers or knee length skirts for contrast. Recreate this look: Mango, H&M and ASOS.

Trend: The Basket Bag

The Basket Bag

Thanks to the gorgeous Jane Birkin (first photo in this post), a recent favourite of mine has become the straw basket style bag. I think it's such a chic, Parisian and relaxed style of bag that makes you look like a true city girl with her own true and retro style. If you want to check out the Little Doe Is Love basket that Jane Birkin sports, click HERE. (not sponsored but I wish it was)

Winter Beauty Trends

Red Eyeshadow

For a long time, red eyeshadow has been a real no no but thanks to the French It girl Soko, red eye makeup is back in business. Depending on your style, you can go for a darker red that may be intense but not as red and eye catching (pun not intended) as a pastel would be. If that doesn't suit you you can go simple and sweep any red tone over your lids for the iconic "Soko look" or go for a pink or orange hue if red is too much for you. Recreate the look: NYX red eyeshadow or MAC red glitter.

The Perfect Red

Dark lips are always a staple for autumn and winter. This year, the shade is a classic red. The colour of red naturally depends on your colouring and undertone. If your cool, go for a red lipstick with a blue undertone, if you're warm, go for something with a yellow undertone. If you're unsure, you may be neutral like me and if you're not sure what any of this means, go to your local beauty store and ask an employee. Recreate this look: NYX lipstick for cool undertones or NYX lipstick for warm undertones.

Copper Eyes

In previous years, the focus has been gold eyeshadow. But now, its time for the more subtle and versatile colour that is copper. Copper suits any skin tone and works really well with neutrals so a smokey eye is always a good and easy option. Recreate this look: Elf eyeshadow pot or Isadora eyeshadow quad.

Neutral n' Natural

This trend encompasses two very similar yet distinct things. One being the bare face look (not "no makeup look") where you do nothing except maybe a little concealer and strobing. While the other includes keeping your face neutral, aka using the same shades for your eyes, lips and cheeks. An easy way to do this is pick a pink close to your skin tone and dab it on your lips, cheeks and eyelids for a rosy and subtle look. Recreate this look: Laura Mercier brightening powder or Yves Saint Laurent sheer lipstick.

Bleached Brows

Unusual eyebrows were produced at a few fashion shows this autumn winter season. When I say unusual I mean both bleached and colourful eyebrows. This is a look that emerged through pop culture (probably thanks to Miley Cyrus) in 2016 and has been appearing at Fashion Week for 2017. Depending on your style, you can go daring and bleach your eyebrows or you can use a colour mascara as a brow gel. Recreate the look: Bleach cream or NYX colour mascara

Dramatic Cat Eye

The cat eye is a classic that will never go out of style and this season, its cousin is coming onto the beauty scene. To bring focus to your eyes this winter, thicken and extend your usual eyeliner for a sultry sixties look that will bring you into the spotlight. Recreate this look: Smashbox liquid liner or L'Oreal kohl pencil.

Lip Gloss

Lastly, this season brings lip gloss back from the nineties. Liquid lipsticks are no good for the chapped lips that occur in winter so its time to change up you routine to include a glossy lip that'll bring life to your face. When it comes to this trend, colour and amount of lip gloss you slather on doesn't matter. As long as your lips are catching the light a little, you're good to go. Extra tip: pop a little lip gloss on your eyelids to be extra trendy. Recreate this trend: Laura Mercier lip glace or Clarins lip perfector.

Winter Fashion Trends

The Pleated Midi Skirt

This is a trend that I've seen at both fashion week and on fashion influencers' blogs. Midi skirts with small pleats may not be the best trend for winter but pair one with tights or some high boots and you're in business. The most common colour palette for this trend (that I've seen) is metallic, whether that be silver, gold, pink or green. Budget friendly alternatives: H&M and Pull&Bear.

Turtlenecks under dresses

From Tory Burch to Valentino, layering is the way to go this winter. Not only is this a cute and wearable trend, a turtleneck under a dress is also very warm. To cover up your legs you can wear tights, thigh high boots, pants (another trend, pants under dresses) or a jumpsuit. I personally would wear a delicate turtleneck top, maybe with longer sleeves and layer that under a more chunky dress, like a denim pinafore for some contrast and added warmth. Budget friendly alternatives: ASOS and ZARA.

Ruffles

Ruffles. A trend that has been on-going since summer. Now, ruffles are really popular on sweaters so you can stay warm and still be on trend. I'd wear an oversized ruffled sweater, a pair of slightly boot cut jeans and brown sock boots. Budget friendly alternatives: H&M and Gina Tricot.

Sock boots

I love sock boots. so. so. much. Depending on the length and thickness of the heel, sock boots can be very comfortable, not to mention, incredibly stylish and kick ass. This trend is often found in velvet, lacquer, leather, an array of colours... Whatever tickles your fancy. Budget friendly alternatives: Mango and ASOS.

Masculine fashion

From Ralph Lauren to Balenciaga, masculine/androgynous fashion has been a major staple on the runway. When I say masculine fashion, I'm talking very preppy and typical British style in the 1920's (google Edward VIII). Suits, pinstripe, platform boots, suede and neutrals are the way to go. Budget friendly alternatives: Bershka and ASOS.

Extra Long Sleeves

Extra long or/and wide sleeves have been a bit of an underground thing since summer of 2016. Now, something that can be either very delicate and feminine or masculine and preppy. Right now, there are lots of alternatives in more common stores which really proves that this trend is on the rise. Budget friendly alternatives: ZARA and H&M.

The Baker Boy Cap

This is a trend that I'm a fan of and that I've written about in my post about how to be stylish in the cold (find it HERE). Baker boy caps come in different colours but usually, navy and black are the most popular colours. This trend is such an it-girl trend that looks effortless, stylish and covers up any bad hair day. Budget friendly alternatives: Bikbok and ASOS.

Sheer Items

When I mean sheer, I also include tulle, fine mesh and glitter items (there are so many synonyms). Although these aren't warm, a mesh dress over any old outfit can jazz it up and add an element of fun. I personally really like the black glitter tops and would wear one over a singlet or large bralette to feel more comfortable. Budget friendly alternatives: Brandy Melville, Mango and Monki.

Straight Jeans

Skinny is finally starting to decrease in popularity (ever so slowly). Now, mum jeans, boyfriend jeans and straight jeans are the way to go. This is an extension of a previous autumn trend that I wrote about, namely reconstructed or/and vintage jeans. Budget friendly alternatives: Beyond Retro, Pull&Bear and H&M.

 Chenille sweaters

This trend hasn't emerged from fashion week, this is a warm trend that came from more common trends and bloggers. Chenille sweaters are a modification of the usual sweater, being more sparkly, cosy and eye-catching. Budget friendly alternatives: Pull&Bear, ZARA and Bershka.

Plastic 60's sunglasses

Last but not least, we have retro sunglasses. By that I mean mainly 60's and 70's sunnies in either plastic or metal, often in round or rectangular shapes. I am such a huge 60's fan and am so excited that stores are releasing affordable and unique sunglasses. Budget friendly alternatives: H&M, Pull&Bear and Mango.

Fall Makeup Trends 2016

Intense Lashes

This season it has been a real mixing pot of the Swinging Sixties and Grunge of the 90's, especially when concerning lashes. Fashion brands were going in different directions with some going bold falsies to replicate the great Twiggy, some going simple with a minimalistic use of mascara. Others chose to bring back the clumpy lashes that compliment an oxblood lip (as seen above on Kendall Jenner) and it strangely works. I remember the 2013 spider lashes all over Tumblr but this is a different take with shorter and larger clumps of lashes that look more planned than the small and strangely long groupings of the early teen years. For an extra twist, go all out with more 90's vibes by choosing a coloured mascara.

Natural n' Illuminated Skin

The fashion industry's staple is fresh, dewy and simple makeup, hair and nails to show off the clothes but this season it has been different. The glowy natural look was a staple for almost every designer with strobed skin, shimmery eyes, a little mascara, brushed out eyebrows and a natural peachy or glossy lip. This will be a great look for winter due to its simplicity since you'll be waking up way too early when its dark outside and you don't want to do anything except lie in bed and drink coffee... Oh boy, that was a little too close to home... If you take anything from this trend, the key is to keep it natural and strobe, strobe, strobe.

Blue eyeshadow

80's fashion is beginning to come back and I have to admit, I'm not at all a fan but I can see this 80's trend working. The bright blue eyeshadow has resurfaced. I feel that you can use a subtle blueish purple on your lids along with long natural lashes, brushed out brows and glossy lips for a more day to day adaptation of this trend.

Glitter

Pat Mcgrath is a true genius, bringing so many of the trends I'm mentioning in this post, including this one: glitter! And no, not for New Years but for fall. More specifically, loose and large glitter (not pigment) that you apply to your face, like your eyes, cheekbones, brow bone, cupid's bow or lips. Just make sure to be gentle on your skin when removing it, I've seen that vaseline or oil are the best ways to go.

Dark Lips

Yes I know, dark lips for fall is a reaaaal shocker. But the thing is that every season the shade is different and reflects the future colours of winter and spring. This year I've noticed two main colours, the first being a dark blackcurrant. This colour is closer to black than to either red or purple and feels very grungey (or grungie or grung-esk..?). Next, we have the classic red lip with usually a blue undertone that says 50's Hollywood glamour turned modern and polished. With both of these styles I'd suggest large yet natural lashes to balance the bold lip.

Brushed Out Brows

This is a favourite trend of mine and I was very excited to see it at fashion week. Although big Cara Delevingne brows have been a staple of the 2010's, this season it is all about unruly and natural brows that aren't perfect. A type of "lazy" eyebrow look where you avoid plucking or waxing excess hairs and just let them grow out. To achieve this look, use your usual brow product with a light hand so to avoid dramatic lines then use clear brow gel to brush your hairs up n' outwards.

Intense eyeliner

Makeup inspired by grunge was a common thing seen at fashion week and the dramatic eyeliner was one of them. It is a great and eye-catching (pun not intended) look for anyone who doesn't have a lot of time to achieve the perfect smokey eye. It is very simple to achieve, just grab a gel or pencil eyeliner and go to town! For added effect, use a blending brush to smoke the look out and hide any mistakes.

Essential Autumn Trends

Reconstructed Jeans

This year has been about used denim: ripped jeans, vintage denim jackets and faded denim but now the fashion world is bringing back the material in a whole new aspect. The reconstructed look. Many runways (and street style icons) showed off jeans that had been cut up and sewed back together for that careless chic look that the fashion industry emulates. Wear yours with chunky heeled ankle boots and a feminine blouse for a nice contrast between vintage and romantic.

Muted Orange

Muted orange is this season's colour with almost every designer featuring the shade in their collection. It is colour that is adventurous, versitile and suits all skin tones. Autumn is all about the warm fall shades but don't forget about your mustard yellow and maroon colours.

Floral

Florals are very overdone in Spring so it is so lovely to see the pattern reinvented for the colder season. Several designers including Dolce & Gabbana and Chloe showed off their designs featuring delicate yet bold flowers on anything from dresses to sweatshirts to skirts. A piece that is worth investing in is the floral maxi dress. This item has been reinvented by almost every designer and is perfect for a bohemian yet chic look that can be dressed either up or down depending on your shoes and bag.

Puffer Jackets

This season sports wear has been reinvented in the form of the puffer jacket. It is a statement piece that will keep you warm and snug the entire season. For an effortless look, I suggest an oversized puffer jacket, skinny jeans and chunky heels that emulates Balenciaga's shrugged off the shoulder version seen in the middle image above.

Hoodies

Luckily, comfort has been the front runner this past season and will continue to be so this autumn. We have Fenty creating a trendy gothic version, Lacoste going for a preppy 90's look and H&M selling more feminine and romantic styles inspired by the runway.

Tartan

Many brands are coming with their own "school uniform" look with Thomas Maier trying out the plaid pinafore and crisp button down, Jason Wu going for Clueless-inspired mini skirt suits and brands like Victoria Beckham and Clavin Klein creating modern and more simple tartan creations. You can never go wrong with plaid in autumn.

Long Sleeves

Extra long sleeves was a favourite for the designers this season. With Chloe creating romantic blouses with delicate long sleeves and Fenty showing off a modern gothic look that coincides with the hoodie trend. This style can both be practical for cold hands and create a nice silouette that creates a contrast. I'd aim for purchasing a delicate sheer blouse or thin sweater with long and wide sleeves since it would look great with anything from high waisted jeans to a mini skirt. I recommend Chloe and ZARA for anyone interested.

Shearling Jackets

For autumn we have a style that has already hit the shops, the classic shearling (or sheepskin) coat is back and trendier than ever. Now, experiment with different colours and cuts from brands like J.Lindeberg and Burberry.

Statement Chokers

This summer was all about the thin 90's choker in velvet, suede and mocha but now, large chokers that cover your neck are taking the spotlight. Design houses like Chloe, Lanvin and Balmain have all created their own versions and stores like ZARA and River Island selling many styles. Invest in a nice chunky metal choker or a silk scarf for the fall season, I promise it will go with any outfit.

8 Late Summer Trends To Try

- Neck scarves -

Although the weather will start growing colder, it's not yet time to bring out those woolly scarves to keep you warm. Stick to a small n' skinny scarf tied around your neck for an alternative look the classic choker. This is a trend that is a reincarnation of last season's long and thin scarf that was lazily wrapped around the neck.

Recreate the trend: hereherehere

- Bucket bags -

This bag has been in and out of style for several seasons but now it's back for real with every store carrying at least one on its shelves. They are mainly found in either leather for an elegant look or mocha for a more relaxed style.

- Denim mini skirts -

The nineties have delivered another trend- the denim mini is back and stronger than ever. After a brief appearance on the runways in the 2000's, this style can once again be found on the fashion interested everywhere. It is time for the denim short shorts to make way for their younger sister for the coming season.

Recreate the trend: hereherehere

- Round sunglasses -

Not the cat eye, nor the large or the over dramatic- the late summer and autumn season are focused on  a nice pair of round sunglasses with a simple frame. These are a nice accessory that is minimal and easy to style while still being fashion forward and eye catching.

Recreate the trend: here, here, here

- The paper bag waist -

Goodbye skinny, hello comfortable. The loose silhouette that huge the hips before feathering out at the waist (thereby the name: like a scrunched up paper bag) is a staple for the season. I've seen this style everywhere from runways to blogs to the average shopper on the street and it looks just as stylish and chic.

Recreate the trend: here, here, here

- Large belts -

A trend that originated between the fashion bloggers. This look can often be found around a denim skirt, a pair of mum jeans or any other pair of trendy attire. This style is mainly that of large black leather belt straps with silver accents: either a simple buckle or western inspired.

Recreate the trend: here, here, here

- Velvet -

The fashion industry loves contrast and everything new- this creating the new obsession with velvet. Summer was shrouded with silk but now, velvet is here for the cooler weather. Expect velvet dresses, coats, bags, chokers and much more.

- Statement earrings -

This season is all about jewellery and a lot of it but mainly: earrings. Back from the sixties, large statement earrings have graced the runway. Any material, any shape and any style, as long as they're big and the steal the attention .

Pre-Summer Fashion Trends

Hello lovely people!

Sydney Fashion Week has just kicked off and I thought I'd give you a roundup of the Pre-Summer trends for the season. Although I already have a post on the Spring trends (find it here), there are always new trends emerging on the scene and this time it is all about the relaxed romantic look.

Ruffles

There are two trends in this post that are related but this one is on its own due to its versatility. Either you can choose a piece with a big ruffle if you want a statement piece or maybe a few small ones for a more relaxed look. A crop top with ruffles could be styled with jeans, boots and a leather jacket for an edgy look or worn with a high waisted skirt, block heels and a bomber jacket for a more feminine look. Combined with the 21st-century oversized trend, ruffles will be really good this summer due to their looseness that will let your skin breathe. If you are interested in trying this trend, I recommend ZARA (yes, I will be recommending them a lot in this post because they always have on trend pieces) since they are currently fully stocked on a lot of ruffles, shoulder detailed as well as blue and white pieces that are all very popular this season.

Flat Shoes

Another comfortable shoe trend and just in time for summer! Although sneakers have been a trend for the past few years, there is a new trend right around the corner. I saw the first whispers of this trend two years ago when Birkenstocks came onto the scene and now flat shoes are a thing. By that I specifically mean slippers since they were dominating the runway but oxfords and relaxed ballet slippers(as well as Birkenstocks of course) are also a part of this look.

The Denim Jacket

Stockholm has just exploded with nice weather for the past few weeks and it is just in time for this trend. The denim jacket serves the function of comfort and warmth while still looking relaxed and prêà porter. Another bonus with this trend is that is can be (and often is) worn oversized. I've been on the look for a good denim jacket and was unhappy with the regular sized ones since they look uncomfortable, cheap and unworn. And today I actually found a lovely oversized jeans jacket at H&M in size 50. If you are having a hard time finding "the one" I recommend checking out the male section of stores since they tend to have a less tailored yet relaxed fit than the women's section. Another tip is to go several sizes too big (like I did) and then you can roll the sleeves up for a casual look. I know that both H&M and ZARA (both the male and female section) have a good selection of denim jackets for a good price.

Patches

This is a trend that I am very enthusiastic about, well I am enthusiastic about all of these trends but this is a trend that I was very eager to get behind. Patches! These can be applied to any item for a young and edgy look. Many pieces come with pre-attached patches but they tend to be a little more expensive than the regular garment and if you are like me and don't want to make that commitment I suggest making your own. All you need to do is buy a plain piece and then find some patches online (I also know Monki sells them) and apply them. This method is cheaper and fun since then you can pick both the clothing you want to match the trend as well as the patches themselves. Another idea that I prefer is to buy those patches in the form of cute pins that you can easily attach and detach from any piece!

Heels with Socks

This next one is a favourite of mine but sadly hard for me to recreate since wearing them in school is impractical and feels strange as well as the fact that I have a very high arch that makes them very painful. But I will try to recreate this trend for a party or maybe some OOTD shoot. I know I've written about this trend in a post a looong time ago but now heels with socks are coming back with a bang! The fun thing with this is that this trend is easy to personalise, whether you want to try platforms, court heels, kitten heels, closed toed shoes, wedges or sandals- it is all possible. Not to mention the type of socks you want to style them with: lace, sheer, glittery, ruffled, knitted, brightly coloured or classic white ones! Another plus is that this trend is great for spring when the weather is still warming up and wearing high heels with bare feet can be a little cold.

Metallic

Many tend to avoid incorporating metals into their outfit because they feel too out there and maybe too futuristic but have no fear- even this trend can be applied to regular people like you and I. The trick is always moderation- by just finding one metallic piece, your whole outfit will have a new light without you having to give up any minimalist ideals. I highly suggest silk pieces because they have a natural sheen (furthest to the right) that mirrors that of a metallic colour. I also suggest wearing metallic shoes if you want to be able to mix and match easily. Right now I myself am eyeing a pair of silver low block heels that I know would go great with any look and spice it up.

Prairie Dress

The prairie dress is a perfect bohemian piece for summer since it is comfortable, romantic, easy to style and breathable. Of course, you don't need a maxi style like those pictured above since there are many modified versions of runway pieces. As long as there is an element of either floral, lace or ruffles- you're good to go! This is a trend is back from the late 1800's and adapted to the 21st century- think Little House on the Prairie meets Devil Wears Prada. I personally would style this piece with a pair of court heels (to add a modern edge), a leather jacket over the shoulders (for a timeless yet edgy side) as well as a large clutch (for some reason clutches always look good when wearing a jacket over the shoulders).

Spring Trends 2016

- The slip dress -

The 90's are making yet another return this Spring and this is reflected in the slip on dress. It can also be referred to as a nightie or a silk dress since its design is based on simplicity, thin straps and silk or silk-like fabric. Calvin Klein was the front runner for this trend this fashion show season with thin straps, long and flowy material as well as a feminine fit. Look out for these beauties this spring season since they are both comfortable, trendy and simple!

- Plaid -

Another trend that is returning from the 90s is plaid and its coming in all forms- dresses, skirts, shirts, bags and sets! Buying plaid items is never a miss since the pattern is regularly on the runway as well as being a classy statement piece!

- Backpacks -

This trend is so incredibly convenient for anyone in school or who needs a comfortable bag to carry their stuff in! Backpacks/rucksacks are a huge trend for spring due to the various different colours, shapes and sizes that they come in. In more recent years they have developed a higher and more classy status in the fashion word with labels like Marc Jacobs and Chanel designing their own expensive but incredibly gorgeous versions.

- Off the Shoulder -

This is a great trend and style for both spring and summer since the off the shoulder look is simple but still shows off some skin. This trend comes in various different types- whether that be halter tops, x-shaped cuts, spagetti strap tops, off the shoulder tops or a shirt with any form of shoulder cutouts or detailing- it's all included! As you can see above, these looks are very summer/resort inspired with the same cut to really give a relaxed, simple yet put together look!

- Tiaras -

Not all Queens wear a crown but now they can with this new cute and unique trend that fits hand i hand with the slip on dress. I have already seen this look in stores and on people at my school which just shows how fast fashion trends spread! I truly love anything girly and romantic but I don't think I'm brave enough to wear a tiara (although I definitely want to). Maybe I'll try one of those similar metallic wreath like headbands...

Trend: Bag of the Season

Hello luvs!

In just a few hours I will be on my way to Australia to celebrate Christmas and New Years Eve! This year has gone so fast woah!

Many of you may remember the bag of last season, it was the Chloe Drew bag and was seen on every blogger or fashionably forward person. This season, Chloe has done it again with their Faye bag!

It comes in many different colours and I don't know which is my favourite... maybe the black or the suede camel colour... I'd wear it with a pair of boyfriend jeans (maybe a pair of tights underneath if you're in the north), shoes with a heel (booties or simple heels), a simple tee, a fur vest or coat with simple (or no) jewellery so that your bag is the focus of your look!

If you don't want to pay a lot of money on a bag that may not stay trendy for the next 5 years, I'm sure there will be many, many dupes online; like Nastygal or ASOS. I hope this was helpful!

Sofia

♡ Trend: 60's Lashes

Hello luvs!

Although the 1980's might be all the fashion rage right now- the Sixties are on their way back! This is the best time to be into fashion as the 60's were the time of crazy clothes after the reserved first half of the century with civil right movements and Beatles music!

A makeup look that has been in the most recent fashion shows is the fluttery 60's lashes. Although the eyeliner of this decade is very famous, people sometimes forget about the long lash trend!

It is (and has) often been done by applying some white eyeliner along the upper or/and lower lash line to awaken the eyes and maybe a slightly darker yet natural shadow in the crease or along the lower lash line. Then adding a pair of full lashes to both the top and bottom lash line for that baby doll / doe eyed effect. Remember to keep the lips fairly neutral if you want your eyes to be the centre of your look.

I am excited to try this makeup trend but will probably start with a white eyeliner in my inner corner and slightly exaggerating my lower lash line then applying a pair of baby doll falsies, brushing through my brows with a pencil and applying MAC's Cream Cup lipstick for a look that I feel comfortable wearing in school! How would you wear it? Comment!

♡ Autumn Makeup Trends

Hello luvs!

So I've been reading up on magazines, seeing popular looks in store catalogues and looking through fall fashion week in different countries. I noticed some reoccuring trends within their makeup choices so I decided to write a lil' guide on autumn makeup trends!Dark Lips- Berry lipsticks are always popular around autumn and winter but this season there is a twist on it. Black lips are making a comeback, other popular colours are a dark purple and other berry colours! With this season's lips it's either all in or nothing at all! Bare lips with nothing but a chapstick or light gloss is also popular! This trend helps when focusing on the two eye trends that I'm writing about next....

Lip products that are part of this trend: MAC lipstick, Urban Decay lipstick, NARS lipstick, Urban Decay lip pencilGlittery Eyes- This makeup look has been seen on the catwalk over the years but now it's coming back! There are many different ways to complete this look: a subtle sparkly eyeliner, a dust of glitter on the lids, or thicker sparkle pieces to cover undereye circles!

These are some shadows that will help you achieve this glamour: Makeup Forever eyeshadow, Make up Store glitter, NYX loose shadow, Make up Store shimmerBlack Shadow- Replace the thin winged liner with thick lines and dark shadows. Although lips are a feature in autumn, eye makeup is the star of the season! I personally I would keep it simple with a thick line of eyeliner that also covers the lid (like the look on the far left). Another trend that has come back is kajal; black eyeliner on the waterline to darken up your eyes!

Different ways to accomplish a black eye (hehehe...): MAC shadow, L'Oreal eyeliner, Maybelline kajal, L'Oreal smoky eyelinerGlowy Skin- During summer the ”no makeup” look was very popular among fashion shows but now in fall it's more dramatic. In previous years, glowy skin has been reserved for the summer and a matte face for the autumn and winter; but no more! This autumn bronzed cheeks and high points are the new craze; I love that! This trend accompanies/ can work with the others as well.

For a dewy look: NARS the multiple, Makeup Forever foundation, NYX setting spray, Burberry liquid highlighterOn fleek cheekbones- This makeup look is under the glowy skin umbrella trend but slightly different, it can be done with matte skin and a highlighter for those of us who aren't such big fans of a shiny face. There are several ways to do this: liquid highlighter (to look natural, instead of a powder), a light blush, or/and a glowy bronzer!

Here are some recommended products: NARS blush, Too Face multiple compact, Hourglass highlighter, Benefit high beam

So those are the biggest autumn/ early winter makeup trends, they are all so gorgeous and I cannot wait to experiment with highlighters and lip colours!

♡ Trend: Metallic Nails

Hey luvs!

So an autumn trend that I have been noticing (somewhat on the runway, but mostly on bloggers n aspiring fashionistas) is the metallic nail trend! I first saw it in some magzine, then on Ariana Grande and then at H&M. So naturally I bought their most suiting colour Android and I love it!

There are two main categories that I would place under this new trendy and cute nail polish option: plain nails and detailed nails! I'll expand on that a little bit more...

Plain metallic nails are a bold option as they catch your eye and can really bring a whole outfit together! I would definitely sport some rings that bring even more attention to your hands. You can either match metals and stay simple or you can mix them and get an edgier combination that catcher your eye. I personally have worn fake nails with this colour but short and natural nails would also look amazing as it may help you stay inside your comfort zone but still experiment with something new! Another option is to buy those stick ons that they offer at H&M which are a metallic colour which is hard to achieve with nail polish.

Metallic Nails

There are many different options to complete this gorgeous manicure! You can add a gold coat then some studs or tiny balls for texture, a more tame rose gold and silver french manicure strips or just go simple and easy with a quick layer of somethin' sparkly and head out the door!

The next metallic trend is gold detailing! I have mostly seen this look in the form of a nude base and lil' gold lines but you can put your own spin on it to make it suit your taste! I haven't tried this one yet as I need to buy some supplies but as soon as I do you can expect some photos!

I love this trend because it is perfect for those who prefer something simple that will draw attention but for its detail, not boldness! I would pair this look with fake nails since that would give the longest/most noticable lines but you can go natural as well (of course).

Pink & Gold

1. H&M Pink Base polish 51 SEK - 2. Gold Nail Tape (Can also be found HERE)

There are a few different ways to go about creating this look, either you can start with a white, pink or nude base or you can go natural and apply a clear topcoat (I would recommend applying the top coat as the gold will not stain your nail then). For the gold you can either do what I plan on doing and purchase some gold (or silver) nail tape, I found some on ETSY for around 15 SEK (theres a link above) or you can use a nail brush and pain the gold vertical, diagonal or horizonal stripe yourself. Either way the colour combinations can't go wrong! If you do mess up then you can start again or paint the entire nail tip gold so that it looks like a french manicure!

I hope you enjoyed reading this little trend report/how to since I had alot of fun writing it!

Sofia

♡ Sensommar Trender

Hej Raringar!

Kram! Sofia xx

♡ Trend: Lace Up Heels

Hi Luvs!

A new trend that has been circling the web and runways are the lace up heels. I actually have a pair similar to #3 but in a nude shade with a low heel! #1 is my favourite because they have long laces that elongate the legs and almost look ballerina-ish.

You can find similar heels here - here - here

What do you think of this trend? Comment below!

♡ Acrylic Accessories

Hej Raringar!

Kram Sofia xoxo

♡ Summer Trends

Hello Luvies!

Today I decided to share som trends that have been going on for a while but will probably increase in popularity. If you are a trend setter (or stubborn when it comes to trends in popculture... like myself), I suggest you keep an eye out because these looks will probably go away after the summer as new trends come with cold weather.

So the trend of fluffy accessories, jewellery and sweaters has been around for some time but recently it has become even more popular and I reaallyyy want one of these bags! They may not be for everyone but I love this statement fashion choice.

Socks with sandals has been a slow coming trend with alot of different opinions. I personally prefer the trend paired with a cute pair of heels or booties! There are many different ways to pull off this trend- detailed/sheer socks, socks with frills, patterned socks, different lenths and colours of socks (now lets not even mention the types of shoes...) I honestly don't know exactly how I'd pair this trend just because I have so many ideas but maybe a pair of black or nude court heels with white sheer socks.

Now I'm sure if you've been into any clothing store that is considered trendy (or for teenagers) you have probably seen the ”fruit trend”. This spreads all the way to interior decorating and is a good trend for summer (and will probably end after summer). You can find anything from earrings, shoes, phone cases and dresses covered in one fruit print or another. I personally have always liked statement clutches (as stated earlier) so I like the bag in #4 because it's cute yet quirky but will go with (almost) everything!

And a little bonus trend- graphic fashion! I just wanted to share it because well.. I'm in the magazine (well... my name anyway), and now I really want this clutch as well!

I hope that brought a little insight into some recent trends that can be found over the summer!

♡ Trend: The Poncho

Hi Luvs!

Today I decided to talk about a trend in english! A popular clothing piece for both the European spring and Australian autumn are ponchos. If you have been out shopping recently then I'm sure you've seen them. Last year the kimono emerged for the summer and now it's been adapted to fit colder weather. When I say poncho I don't necessarily mean a large cape looking sweater with arm holes, this category also covers large, blanket-like scarves- often in either floral or bohemian patterns.

I would pair a poncho with a short dress, my favourite shoulder bag as well as a pair of thigh high socks and black heeled booties. So cute! Do you prefer the kimono or the poncho? Comment below!
